New Afghan Ambassador Presents His Credentials to President Ram Nath Kovind

NEW DELHI – The new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to India, Mr. Farid Mamundzay today in a virtual ceremony presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of India, H.E. Ram Nath Kovind.
President Kovind warmly welcomed Ambassador Mamundzay and wished him a successful tenure in India. The President alluded to close ties between India and Afghanistan, saying that cordial relationship between the two countries derived its strength from people to people contact. He called Afghanistan an important strategic partner and a valued neighbor and underlined the two countries common objective for peace and prosperity, highlighting that the two nations fought colonialism in the past together and combating terrorism at present.
Ambassador Mamundzay conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President of Afghanistan to the President of India. Ambassador Mamundzay in his remarks noted that the two countries have shared common history, tradition, values and a common vision for the emergence of a stable, more secure and prosperous region. He hoped for joint efforts by India and Afghanistan on issues related to regional peace and stability.
Further, Ambassador Mamundzay thanked India for its generous contributions especially for the half million doses of COVID-19 vaccines that India has assisted to Afghanistan recently. Additionally, Mr. Mamundzay affirmed his commitment to take Indo-Afghan bilateral relations to new heights.
